Local Perfumer Brings Aromas of Philadelphia to Life with Wearable Scents
Alex Rodriguez, the owner of RDZ Parfums, is bringing the aromas of Philadelphia to life with a series of wearable scents, writes Alyana Gomez for 6abc.
Rodriguez is famous for making uniquely popular scents inspired by the landscapes of his native Puerto Rico and Philadelphia, including the “Philly Blunt.”
His latest addition to the series is the “Art Museum.”
“The fragrance is really complex just like the artwork in the museum, so it actually opens up with some heliotrope, some chamomile oil, has patchouli in there, palo santo, and papitos,” said Rodriguez. “When the fragrance unfolds, it has some sage, some frankincense and lavender.”
But while “Art Museum” is a more masculine-smelling scent with notes of sandalwood, ginger, and leather, all of the perfumes Rodriguez creates are unisex.
Now that the “Art Museum” is out, the perfumer is already working on his next scent.
“We are working on another Philly fragrance called ‘Freedom,’” he said. “It’s inspired by the actual Liberty Bell here in Philadelphia.”
RDZ Parfums are available online or in-store at Perfumology, which can be found on 3rd and Market streets in Old City.
