Perryman Building & Construction’s Multi-Generation Legacy Earns Family-Owned Business Award Honor
Perryman Building and Construction was founded by Jimmie Perryman in 1954 in Evergreen, Alabama, but in the 70 years since, the company can be credited for shaping the Philadelphia skyline, writes Lisa Dukart for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Over the years, the company has worked on several big projects in the region.
This includes installing about 64,000 seats at Lincoln Financial Field, expanding the Pennsylvania Convention Center, the Drexel University Health Sciences Building, projects at Philadelphia International Airport, Kimmel Center, and the Philadelphia Zoo garage.
The business has been handed down through generations over the years.
Angelo Perryman, the founder’s son, took the helm as the company’s president in 1998 and relocated it to Philadelphia that year.
“We’ve completed over 1,000 projects in this marketplace,” Angelo said. “So we’ve been an integral part of the new and improved Philadelphia that didn’t exist in 1998. We’ve been a part of the change.”
The plan is to have his daughter, Angelina Perryman, to succeed him as president. She is currently the vice president of administration for the firm.
Her brother, Anthony, is also part of the company.
Together, the family has built a legacy of constructing, giving back, and forging a talent pipeline.
