Mars Sharrock, a Philadelphia LGBTQ+ community activist and program director at The Wardrobe, made it to the 2024 'Out 100' list of the most influential LGBTQ+ leaders in the nation.

Mars Sharrock, the program director at local nonprofit The Wardrobe, was named to this year’s ‘Out 100’ list, writes Racquel Williams for KYW Newsradio.

The ‘Out 100’ list, which is in its 30th year, it’s Out Magazine‘s annual celebration of the 100 most influential LGBTQ+ leaders in the country.

The Wardrobe, which has locations in Philadelphia, Delaware, and Chester Counties, seeks to eliminate clothing insecurity by providing professional attire to those who may need it for a job interview or other endeavor.

“I’m really proud that in the time that I’ve been there, I’ve seen the organization grow exponentially into being able to serve all genders, being a really welcoming and open place for the trans community, for the LGBT community,” Sharrock said.

In addition to their work at The Wardrobe, Sharrock also serves on the board of the Independence Business Alliance, the region’s LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce, where they found a passion working on its TransWork committee.

“The goal of trans work is really to get not just trans people jobs, but to make sure that those jobs are sustainable, to make sure that those jobs are welcoming and inviting,” Sharrock said.

Sharrock is inspired to see people are more in the transgender and LGBTQ+ community be more open despite the influx of massive backlash.
