New Mediterranean Restaurant Coming Soon to Olde Kensington
A new Mediterranean restaurant with an “upscale grandmother vibe” and tasting menu will soon open in Olde Kensington, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The new eatery, Emmett, will serve Levantine cuisine with various cultural influences around the Mediterranean, including French, Italian, North African, and Middle Eastern cooking.
While the opening menu is yet to be finalized, expected dishes include cured foie gras with winter citrus and semolina cake, matzoh ball soup with duck confit, herbs and challah toast, and lamb neck dolmades with beet matbucha and jus.
Chef Evan Snyder and partners Julian van der Tak and Eli Silins are targeting to open the new restaurant by mid-January.
“It’s time to really get moving and make this space our own, and show Philadelphia what our cuisine is all about,” Snyder said.
Emmett will replace the recent home of vegan restaurant Primary Plant Based, which closed in late September after nearly three years in operation.
The restaurant will have offerings of both an a la carte menu and an optional $85 tasting menu on a nightly basis. There will also be a full bar with a selection of natural wines, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks.
