Voter Services Mobile Outreach Van Hits the Road in Montgomery County
Montgomery County unveiled its new Voter Services Mobile Outreach Van on Saturday at Abington Township’s Fall Festival, reports Rachel Ravina for Main Line Media News.
The new initiative aims to boost voter engagement ahead of the 2024 General Election. The mobile outreach van was stationed at Crestmont Park, offering voter registration services, mail-in ballot information, and election day polling details.
Montgomery County Commissioners’ Chairwoman Jamila Winder and Vice Chairman Neil Makhija joined the event, speaking with residents and answering election-related questions. “The Voter Services van is the first of its kind in Pennsylvania,” said a county spokesperson. The van’s purpose is to educate citizens and make voter services more accessible.
The outreach van was funded through a $145,600 agreement with Whitmoyer Auto Group.
Montgomery County is ramping up voter engagement efforts as Election Day approaches. Residents can vote by mail, absentee ballot, or in person at one of the county’s 426 polling places. Drop boxes and satellite offices opened on Oct. 4, providing additional access for voters.
With over 600,000 registered voters in the county, officials are expecting a high turnout. The voter registration deadline is Oct. 21, and mail-in ballot requests must be submitted by Oct. 29.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, and all ballots must be returned by the close of polls.
