Dilworth Paxson LLP’s Chairman, Lawrence G. McMichael, has been celebrated with the Magis Award for his dedication to serving the Philadelphia community. The award, presented by Project Magis, recognizes leaders in the Greater Philadelphia business scene who exemplify qualities of kindness, humility, and respect within their professions.

Project Magis, a legal and financial networking group, is dedicated to community service through its support of the Catholic Charities Appeal, an initiative by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. McMichael accepted the award on October 28, 2024, during Project Magis’s annual fall reception.

Anne Aaronson, a partner at Dilworth Paxson, highlighted McMichael’s dedication: “Larry was selected as a 2024 recipient of the Magis Award in recognition of his significant contributions as a skilled lawyer and advocate. His commitment to enhancing the Philadelphia community with kindness and compassion sets him apart.”

McMichael, deeply honored, expressed his hope that this recognition will inspire others. “I am very honored to be selected for this award, and I hope that it inspires others to lend their time and treasure to the incredibly important mission of Catholic Charities.”

With a legal career rooted entirely at Dilworth, McMichael is widely regarded as one of the region’s top commercial trial attorneys. He has not only represented numerous high-profile clients in federal and state courts but also served as counsel for Philadelphia’s largest nonprofit institutions. His unique expertise has earned him fellowships in both the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American College of Bankruptcy—an accolade few attorneys nationwide hold.

Beyond legal advocacy, McMichael’s recognition speaks to the broader mission of Project Magis. The organization works to address urgent needs in the community, such as hunger, homelessness, and addiction, through impactful fundraising. The Catholic Charities Appeal directs these efforts, benefiting education, housing services, and other essential programs across Philadelphia.

Founded in 1933, Dilworth Paxson LLP operates out of offices in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Delaware, serving clients ranging from individuals to multinational corporations. The firm is known for its dedication to legal excellence and active engagement in the communities it serves.
