Quakertown’s Sabrina Carpenter Gives Out-of-This-World Performance at VMAs, Wins Song of Year Award
After giving an out-of-this-world performance at the 40th VMAs, Quakertown native Sabrina Carpenter won the award for the Song of the Year for her mega-hit Espresso, write Brendan Morrow and Tom Haines for the Bucks County Courier Times.
“I’ve literally never won one of these,” said Carpenter, before thanking her fans and her “cats and dogs that are at home watching.”
Carpenter performed a medley of Please Please Please, Taste, and Espresso during the show, eliciting one of the most enthusiastic reactions from the audience all night. The singer started off in the air on a giant diamond before she landed on the stage to dance alongside astronauts and an alien — who she proceeded to kiss at one point in the performance.
Carpenter first got noticed on Disney’s Girl Meets World. She has been releasing records for the last 11 years, but her fame has skyrocketed with her latest album Short n’ Sweet.
The singer and actress is currently on tour and will be returning home to play at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on October 8.
