A Family-Run Floral Company Has Operated in West Oak Lane for More Than 50 Years
Paul Beale’s Flowers, the family-run floral company, has been going strong in West Oak Lane since 1971, writes Tamala Edwards for 6abc.
It’s a go-to spot if you’re looking for a colorful, vibrant arrangement of flowers for a special occasion.
The shop was started by Altermese Beale and her late husband, Paul, who convinced her that he could do the arranging for their own shop after managing someone else’s business for 16 years.
At the time, the Beales had three children in college.
“We just worked hard,” Altermese said. “Been here for 53 years, been a wonderful life.”
Now, the shop is run by two of their daughters, along with their grandson and great-grandson.
Altermese, however, still comes into the shop daily to help her family out.
“A lot of families can’t work together, but we seem to do it very well,” said Carolyn Beale, office manager for Paul Beale’s Flowers.
At the shop, customers can buy flowers for funerals, weddings, corsages, birthdays, and more.
Four generations in, owner Paulette Beale Harris said the Beale family operate with the same values of hard work and good service that has been instilled in them.
Carolyn added that they are all intent on keeping the family legacy going.
