Casa Carmen Farm & Winery Makes Its Home in West Grove
Casa Carmen Farm & Winery, once located in Chestertown on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, has found its home and a welcoming community in West Grove, writes Paul Vigna for Penn Live Patriot-News.
The newcomer had a soft opening in March and a grand opening with a cocktail party a month later.
Casa Carmen is located on a historic property that was originally home to William Penn and his daughter, Letitia.
The place offers a great vibe. The tasting room seats between 25 and 30 people inside with a large outdoor space.
The winery is operated by brothers Enrique and Felipe Pallares. The Ecuador natives opened the original Casa Carmen in Maryland in 2017. When their plans to build a tasting room were thwarted by zoning issues, they decided to find a new home on the Mason-Dixon Line.
The results since opening have been amazing.
“We love this community and feel the love back,” said Enrique. “We are always assessing and reassessing as to how to improve things, but we try to not make any decisions based on haste and fads, so we just love seeing it come to life.”
