Wawa’s First Store in Central Pennsylvania Set to Open in September

By

Wawa’s first central PA store, solidly in Sheetz territory, is set to open Sept. 19 along West Harrisburg Pike in Lower Swatara Township near Middletown Dauphin County, reports WGAL.

Wawa will also introduce its community partnerships and celebrate local heroes through “Hoagies for Heroes” initiative.

“We are excited to open our first store in Central PA and celebrate others under construction,” said Katie Stevens, director of Store Operations. “We look forward to bringing our brand of fresh food, beverages, and convenience to new areas and further our commitment as a strong community partner.”

By year’s end, Wawa plans to have three more stores in York County—in York, Dover, and Hanover, as well as a store in Enola, Cumberland County.

By the end of 2025, Wawa hopes to open 12 stores in Cumberland, Dauphin, York, Franklin, Lycoming, Northumberland, and Union counties.

Over the next five years, Wawa is looking at 40 new locations in Pennsylvania.

The venture costs the convenience store chain $7 million per store.  For the local economy, it will mean 140 contractors and local partners, along with 35 associates in the average store.

In total, the central Pennsylvania expansion will create 1,400 new long-term jobs.
