Wawa ‘Cheers to Classrooms’ Toasts Teachers With Free Coffee
Wawa, Inc., announces its “Cheers to Classrooms” initiative is back toasting teachers and school staff with free any size hot coffee from Monday, Sept. 2 through Sunday, Sept. 15.
The offer is available at its Mid-Atlantic operating area of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and Washington, D.C.
Wawa toasted educators in Alabama and Florida in August.
To redeem the offer, teachers and school staff just have to inform the associate at the register that they are a member of a local school system.
The offer is valid in-store only, not on the Wawa App and delivery services.
“As everyday heroes of the classroom return back to school, we’re delighted to toast a new year by providing free coffee to teachers and school staff for the first two weeks of September,” said Dave Simonetti, Wawa’s senior director of Store Operations. “We hope this small gesture shows our deep appreciation for everything educators and school staff do for children in the community.”
Wawa has often used free coffee to celebrate new store openings, company anniversaries, as well as to honor valued customeres and people in the community.
Wawa care packages sent to soldiers overseas include Wawa coffee.
The Delaware County-based convenience store chain is a privately held company that started in 1803 with an iron foundry in New Jersey.
Toward the end of the 19th Century, owner George Wood took an interest in dairy farming and the family began a small processing plant in Wawa in 1902.
As home delivery of milk declined in the early 1960s, Grahame Wood, George’s grandson, opened the first Wawa Food Market in 1964 in Folsom as an outlet for dairy products and has expanded ever since.
Today’s Wawa stores are located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, North Carolina, Alabama and Washington, D.C. with more than 1,060 locations to date.
