By

In a significant move to address the growing need for skilled museum educators, Saint Joseph’s University and the Barnes Foundation are launching a cutting-edge online Master of Arts in Museum Education program this fall, writes Racquel Williams for KYW Radio Philadelphia.

This collaboration aims to fill a critical gap in educational offerings for museum professionals.

The program is designed to equip students with the skills to effectively engage and educate the public in any museum setting.

Using the Barnes Foundation’s state-of-the-art Visual Experience Platform, students will learn advanced strategies for teaching about objects and collections.

The comprehensive curriculum includes an internship requiring 35 hours of fieldwork, providing hands-on experience crucial for career readiness.

Additionally, the program offers a Museum Education Certificate for those seeking targeted professional development without committing to a full master’s degree.
