New Owner Gives Pottstown Pharmacy a Shot in the Arm

New ownership has taken over a Pottstown pharmacy with a troubled history, writes WFMZ.

Professional Pharmacy located on Charlotte Street in Pottstown had recently made news when it was forced to pay a fine and surrender its DEA registration after charges of improperly dispensing opioids and other controlled senses.

As many relied on the pharmacy, the former owner’s malfeasance left a void in the community. For that reason, Lokesh Patel stepped in and opened the business under new ownership.

“A great deal of our existing customers depend on us,” said Patel, “and I feel that it’s very important to continue to serve the needs of this population, many of whom are elderly.”

The pharmacy currently serves about 500 customers weekly and employs over 20 employees. It also works with all major insurance plans.

Patel, a Temple Pharmacy School graduate, will continue to offer and expand on services like local delivery, immunizations, respiratory care, and more.

“Our goal is to continue to help our community, and whenever possible, make medications affordable and accessible,” Patel said.

With cold weather and flu season approaching, Patel plans for a busy fall.
