Willow Grove Grandmother Launches ‘Never Accepting Negativity’ Resource Center
After she received a dire diagnosis, DebiAnn Henderson-Scott decided to never accept negativity, reports Matteo Iadonisi for 6abc.
“When I was 32, I was diagnosed with lupus,” said Henderson-Scott. “I was told I had a certain amount of months to live. I could have took the negative side of that and gave up and said ‘Oh my God, the woe is me.’ But I decided to fight.”
Three decades later, she is teaching children in her family and neighborhood the same motto using creative activities, some of which take place at The Yard House at Willow Grove Park Mall.
Henderson-Scott teaches kids not to accept negative words somebody might say to them “because you can be whatever you want to be, and that’s the lesson I try to teach kids.”
She founded the organization Never Accepting Negativity – a resource center for kids and their parents and caregivers. They host a variety of programs and pop-up events that are designed to develop creativity in the youth and teach them financial literacy and other skills.
The Yard House supports Henderson-Scott’s organization.
Never Accepting Negativity also encourages kids to start their own businesses, like selling jewelry or water ice.
