A burger, fries, and drink costs more than ever before across the United States.

A new study has found that individuals in the United States are paying more for a burger, fries, and a drink than ever before due to the continuous impact of inflation, writes Alex Mitchell for the New York Post.

Researchers at Moneygeek investigated the costs of a burger combo at 189 national and local chain restaurants in the 50 largest cities in the nation.

“The cost of a burger has gone up dramatically in the past two years, meaning that America’s favorite meal may take a toll on our wallets, as well as our waistlines, the team wrote.

“We found that from 2022 to 2024, prices have risen 24%, on average. But there are certain cities and franchises where you’ll find yourself paying a whole lot more,” it continued.

Wendy’s had the largest percent increase over the past two years at 31.8 percent, as prices rose from $9.41 to $12.41.

McDonald’s was second with a 22 percent increase, followed by Five Guys and Burger King, at 13.7 percent and 12.3 percent increases, respectively.

Of the top 50 cities, Philadelphia ranked ninth on the list for most expensive cities, as a burger combo costs an average of $16.48.

Atop the list was San Diego at $20.76.
