The Greater Philadelphia area is home to 17 of the country’s best employers for women, including three in Philadelphia, writes Lisa Dukart for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

This is according to new rankings from Forbes.

Now in its seventh year, Forbes ranked the top 600 companies in the United States by surveying over 150,000 women at companies with at least 1,000 U.S. employees to determine the latest edition of the list.

GSK, which has its U.S. headquarters in Philadelphia, ranked at No. 57 on the list, climbing more than 50 spots from its ranking last year.

Comcast ranked at No. 354 on the list.

Urban Outfitters ranked at No. 460 on the list.

To put together the list, Forbes took into consideration factors like if an individual would recommend their current or previous employer to others and their ratings on work environment, pay equity, parental leave, and the handling of workplace sexual misconduct and discrimination.

It also reviewed the number of women in executive and board positions at each company.

Health care and life sciences companies were the most-represented, making up about one-third of the local companies on the list.
