Jamison Mother-Daughter Duo Finds Sweet Success in Honey Business

By

A Bucks County mother-daughter team transformed their passion for beekeeping into a thriving business, according to The Reporter.

Karen Zebrowski and Nikki Zebrowski-Beck founded Jamison-based Backyard Buzz while working as nurses at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia.

Initially selling honey to coworkers and at local events, their part-time venture quickly grew in popularity.

By 2021, they left their healthcare roles to fully focus on honey production.

Recognizing the need for expansion, they partnered with SCORE Bucks County mentor Kathleen Donohue

This mentorship helped them position their honey as a luxury product, boosting their online sales and expanding their reach.

Backyard Buzz honey is now featured in local restaurants and sold at various locations, including Warrington Farmers Market, Meadowlark Bakery & Café in Warminster, and JustFood in Buckingham.

They also produce beeswax luminaries, bath and beauty products, honey lollipops, cotton candy, and chocolate-covered creamed honey.

Certified as a PA Preferred business, Backyard Buzz operates in a Department of Agriculture-certified kitchen.

Their passion extends to educating the public about pollinators and offering native bee box pollination services.

Looking ahead, Nikki, who manages 15 beehives in Bucks County, plans to increase honey production by setting up more hives in local backyards.
