Tyrese Maxey Among Several Pro Athletes to Invest in $10M Ballers Sports and Social Venue in Fishtown
Ballers is a new social sports venue coming to Fishtown in early 2025, and several professional athletes have signed on as investors, including Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Tyrese Maxey, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The $10 million venue is a 45,000-square-foot hospitality and sports-focused concept that features racquet sports courts, golf simulators, and food and beverage options.
“We are huge believers in Philadelphia, and Ballers will bring together two of the things Philadelphians love best — sports and socializing — all under one roof,” Good City Studio co-founder David Gutstadt said in a statement.
Maxey is joined by the likes of tennis stars Andre Agassi and Kim Clijsters as investors in the venue. Agassi and Clijsters have invested in both the Philly location and the Ballers parent operating company.
According to Gutstadt, 15 professional athletes have invested in the Philly location, the parent company, or both.
He also noted that athletes represent approximately 20 percent of its investor capital for the Philadelphia location.
Ballers’ Philadelphia will mark the debut of the concept before Good City Studio and Vero Capital embark on a national expansion of the brand.
