Residents Keep Warning of Falling Windows at Riverwalk Apartments
Residents of Riverwalk apartments, constructed by PMC Property Group in 2021, have been complaining about falling windows for several years, and claim management has delayed resolving the issue, writes Hannah Nguyen for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
According to court documents, dozens of windows have fallen from the apartment building along the Schuylkill and another PMC high-rise in recent years.
Sam Myers, who moved into the building in February, has already seen four windows fall from the upper floors, two of which landed on his balcony. He has repeatedly emailed PMC to figure out what is causing windows to fall from the building not just on residents’ balconies, but onto the dog park, the railroad tracks, and the pool. However, he said he has consistently been “dismissed.”
The property manager offered him $1,500 to move out, but he and other residents are more worried about the lack of action.
“This isn’t about my personal financial gain,” said Myers. “Someone’s going to die.”
PMC recently filed a lawsuit against Wisconsin-based Wausau Window and Wall Systems, claiming that the company had provided defective products.
Meanwhile, Wausau announced in February it has decided to retire its brand, will no longer sell windows and wall curtains, and instead cease to exist.
