Madis Coffee Roasters, the University City coffee shop is set to expand by bringing two new locations to Center City, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The two new coffee shops are planned to open in Rittenhouse Square and Old City, respectively, in early September.

The Rittenhouse shop will be located in the ground-floor commercial space under the Element Philadelphia Downtown hotel. The Old City shop will be located on the ground floor of the mixed-use building, the Curtis.

Due to its larger footprint, Madis Coffee Roasters plans to move its University City roastery to the Old City shop.

Eleni Navrosidis, a partner on the Old City location who handles the marketing, said the shop hopes to use the roastery to make smaller, personalized roasts for coffee enthusiasts.

“The space is just going to be really optimal for what we want to do,” she said.

Madis Coffee Roasters was founded in November 2022 by Eleni’s father Savvas Navrosidis and Dimitrios Georgis. Alexander Navrosidis, Savvas’ son and Eleni’s brother is also a partner in the Rittenhouse shop.

Beyond its assortment of coffee, Madis also plans to offer more grab-and-go food options, such as sandwiches, melts, flatbreads, bagels, and avocado toast.
