Reassess & Make Changes: Improve Your Business, Football Team, LinkedIn
Eagles! E-A-G-L-E-S! Eagles! That’s the football team we are talking about. Although we could be talking about any football team, in this case, we are talking about my home team in the land of the brotherly shove.
You ask why we are talking about football now? It’s June! It’s not football season!
When I woke up Thursday morning, I was going to write about a different LinkedIn topic, and then I attended the SCORE Awards celebration.
I always look forward to the annual SCORE awards, especially since I was an awardee in 2020 for my nonprofit after being mentored by SCORE. I am also celebrate 11 years volunteering with SCORE on the speakers’ bureau, starting at Chester & Delaware County SCORE, thank to being recruited by Jerry Francis!
Fellow SCORE Mentor David Gerhardt introduced our keynote speaker, who spent his career with the Eagles. The keynote inspired the topic of today’s article. Perhaps you have heard of Eagles Insider Dave Spadaro.
Dave explained that in 2023, the Eagles went from a 10-1 record, and things went downhill from there, and the team could not recover. He said the team needed to step back and reassess and determine the required changes.
The CEO (Jeffrey Lurie), Coach Nick Sirianni, and the COO (Jalen Hurts) needed to figure out what went wrong, put experienced coordinators in, make substantive changes, and rebuild the backbone before the September 6, 2024 restart in São Paulo, Brazil.
If you are a small business owner, perhaps those steps sound familiar. If you are a solopreneur or small business and don’t have a team or need some outside eyes on your business, those experienced coordinators could be outside specialists or SCORE mentors.
Reach out to your SCORE chapter to learn more about getting a mentor to help you reassess and figure out what changes you need to make.
So that brings us to LinkedIn. It’s ever-evolving, or at least should be constantly changing. Pooja Agnihotri, author of “17 Reasons Why Business Fail” stated “When you become stagnant and aren’t improving by the day, you are only moving toward your failure.”
You have to sharpen the saw, meaning you need to keep your LinkedIn profile fresh and up to date, just like your business and your football team. Don’t neglect it like an old rusty car. Reassess and figure out what changes you need to make.
If you don’t know how to do yourself, hire a specialist for one-on-one coaching or attend SCORE or other LinkedIn workshops.
Dave Spadaro mentioned the importance of team success and that “big dreams require planning.” As they say … it takes a village. Get your team in place!
If you visit my LinkedIn profile under my headline, you will see More Gobsmacking Resources and will find a list of my upcoming speaking events there. I’m always speaking about LinkedIn!
Come learn with me online, and reassess, and figure out what changes you need to make on your LinkedIn profile.
