Lapstone & Hammer, the sneaker store on Chestnut Street in Center City, recently saw a long of anxious customers eager to get there hands on the new limited edition Philly-inspired pair of Nike Dunks, reports FOX 29.

Brian Nadav, the store’s owner, credits the sneaker drop coming to fruition on Nike coming to the city to learn about Philadelphia.

“We didn’t want just cheesesteaks and Liberty Bells and red, white and blue,” said Nadav. “We wanted something authentic to tell the story of the city’s grit, hardwork, this underdog mentality, the idea of the arts flourishing here.”

Each color and detail on the shoe has a specific meaning.

According to Nadav, the concrete gray color symbolizes the city’s grit, while the green laces represent Philly’s street signs, including the yellow aglets with the coordinates for City Hall.

Another unique feature of the sneaker is the gray Nike swoosh logo that can wear away over time to reveal swirling colors. The feature pays homage to Philly’s burgeoning arts scene.

“I feel honored and blessed to be here to represent Philly as a community,” said Nadav.

The sneakers cost $135 per pair.
