Langhorne Couple’s Vacation Miracle Baby Saved by CHOP
A Langhorne couple’s vacation to Turks and Caicos took an unexpected turn last year when Lindsey Offner went into labor 13 weeks early, writes Courtenay Harris Bond for the Philly Voice.
On May 12, 2023, Lindsey delivered a 2.5-pound baby girl named Logan. The premature birth required immediate and specialized care that the island’s medical facilities initially provided.
Lindsey’s husband Joe quickly took action. A project manager and volunteer firefighter, Joe contacted the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to arrange for an emergency transport.
On May 14, a CHOP transport team arrived in a small airplane to transfer Logan and Joe to Philadelphia, while Lindsey, who had undergone an emergency C-section, followed on a commercial flight.
Logan was admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit at CHOP, where she received critical care for over 70 days. Due to her premature birth, Logan’s lungs required ventilator support.
Demonstrating remarkable resilience, Logan managed to remove her ventilator herself and did not need it again.
Now thriving alongside her older brother, Cole, Logan continues to grow. Reflecting on the experience, Lindsey expressed gratitude for the exceptional care provided by CHOP and the support from their community.
