East Falls Homeowner Managed to Add Tons of Storage to His Home While Also on a Budget
Kevin Boyle and partner Mac Francis run a vintage home goods store in Philadelphia called, A Four Foot Prune.
The store is filled with a selection of delightful secondhand items, and their East Falls home is too, write Adrienne Breaux and Carina Romano for Apartment Therapy.
When it came to renovating the home, Boyle said he “exposed some brick and tore down a wall and ripped up some floors.”
Among his biggest challenges, however, was budget.
All the renovations in the home were completed for relatively little money, but instead his own “audacity.”
For example, the carpet addition on the stairs took about a month-and-a-half to complete as Boyle bought the needed tools one at a time and purchased the materials from a Pittsburgh outlet store.
Subsequently, he added tons of storage to his home by utilizing affordable pipe shelving.
All the storage in the home is open, and Boyle keeps it that way for a specific reason.
“If I can’t see the object I’ll forget it exists — and it’ll never be used,” he said. “So every kitchen tool, every sweater, every book is on display.”
