Cookie Plug in Media Mixes Cookie Dough With Hip-Hop Favorites

By

It’s apparently one of America’s fastest-growing concepts—a hip-hop-themed cookie shop, and now there’s one opening in Media Borough, writes Cherise Lynch for NBC Philadelphia.

Cookie Plug is an edgy and dynamic cookie company inspired by hip-hop music and street art.

Entrepreneurs Khaled Salem and Amany Elgarhy of Glen Mills brought Pennsylvania’s first location to downtown Media on State Street, directly across from Iron Hill Brewery and Trader Joe’s.

“Joining the Cookie Plug family was a natural fit for us, given our journey and aspirations for entrepreneurship,” Elgarhy said. “We were drawn to its unique concept–which blends amazing, high-quality cookies for our community with a lively, hip-hop inspired theme.”

A ribbon-cutting is planned Friday June 7, at 1 PM with Media Mayor Robert McMahon and members of the Media Business Authority.

The doors will open to the pubic on Saturday at 11 AM. There will be activities for kids, hip-hop tunes, and special deals, including one that offers eight cookies for free with the purchase of four cookies and a drink.

Cookie Plug features a dozen flavors, using names like Pixie Junkie, Barn Bam, Snooperdoodle and Chocolate XTC.  The extra-large cookies are baked fresh on-site daily.
