Down North Pizza Releases New Frozen Pie in Partnership With Gopuff
Down North Pizza has partnered with Gopuff on a new Detroit-style frozen pie, writes Kristen Hunt for PhillyVoice.
The recently-debuted frozen pizza is topped with all-beef sausage, pepperoni, and bacon.
It’s called the Uknowhowwedu, named after the Philadelphia hip-hop artist Bahamadia’s single of the same name.
With its GoPuff partnership, the Strawberry Mansion pizzeria hopes to be able to reach new customers, particularly those unaware of its mission to help reduce recidivism rates in the area.
“I felt as though it was a great opportunity to partner with a local brand to further bring awareness to everything we got going on,” said Muhammad Abdul-Hadi, owner of Down North Pizza. “The mission, and also the great food that we’re selling.”
This is Down North Pizza’s second foray into frozen foods.
In 2022, the piemaker started shipping its thick-crust pies nationwide on Goldbelly.
With its second frozen pie partnership fully underway, Down North Pizza is setting its sights on grocery store freezers.
“That’s the goal,” said Abdul-Hadi. “Maybe after this to test it in different grocery stores. Start on a small scale, kind of build it up and see if there’s a demand and go from there.”
Several other projects are also on the horizon.
