Philadelphia is Already Eyeing A Bid to Host Another Wrestlemania After 2024 Event Success
After a successful Wrestlemania XL in Philadelphia earlier this month, the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau is already planning to submit a bid to host the annual professional wrestling spectacle again in the near future, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
“This is such a highly-coveted event that we know there’s a long line of cities clamoring to host,” said Larry Needle, executive director of PHLCVB’s PHL Sports division. “But needless to say, we would be thrilled to have Wrestlemania back,”
Wrestlemania XL broke several records, including event attendance, ticket sales, merchandise sales, and social media and television viewership.
In the words of WWE chief content officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Wrestlemania XL was the “biggest Wrestlemania of all time.”
While the final impact and visitation numbers are still being crunched, Needle said the overall impact was positive.
This can add confidence as Philadelphia also prepares to host celebrations for the nation’s 250th anniversary, the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, and six matches for the FIFA World Cup.
“We’re just going to need to build on this success and learn how to make it even bigger and better, because the magnitude for 2026 is only going to be increasing,” Needle said.
