My Local Brew Works isn't your typical brewery, as it allows customers to create their own craft beer if they so choose.

At My Local Brew Works in Philadelphia, co-founder Wayne Humphrey believes that smaller and hands-on is better.

That ideology is the premise for allowing customers to create their own custom craft beer, writes Ronnie Koenig for Forbes.

My Local Brew Works began when two local home brewers, Humphrey and Tim Montague teamed up with brewing mentor and grain master George Hummel. Their goal is to produce traditional European style and American craft style beers using tried-and-true flavor combinations.

People who have experienced brewing a custom craft beer at MLBW span from corporate teams to individuals at bridal parties.

When making a custom craft brew, customers can either have the brewery’s team make it for you or come on-site to get the up close and personal, hands-on experience.

Koenig and her friends had the opportunity to brew their own custom beers, calling the experience “so fun and informative.”

“When you could have the team create your custom brew without getting hands on, being there and participating in the brewing process was half the fun (the other half was getting to try all the beer samples!),” she added.
