Goalie Doctor is a training program especially for upstart goalies.

Goalie Doctor, a training program based in Aston, Is helping many ice hockey goalie upstarts advance their athletic careers, reports Main Line Today.

The program is run by Matt Tendler, who was a freshman netminder at Neumann University when the school won an NCAA Division III championship.

He also coached goalies there for three years, becoming head coach at Neumann before leaving in 2017.

Tendler, now a goalie coach at the University of Delaware, founded Goalie Doctor in 2012.

He runs the program with Mitch Harris, a goalie coach at Alvernia College in Reading.

About 200 goalies a year of all ages work with Goalie Doctor, including some in the 50s who are playing in adult leagues.

“It’s a position that’s challenging and continually changing,” says Tendler on being a goalie. “No one likes to be the goat out there and be the reason why his team loses.”

One alumnae of Goalie Doctor is Patrick Quinlan, a 16-year-old netminder for the U.S. National Under-17 Team

Quinlan started with Tendler and Harris at age 6.

“Patrick is a standout pupil. Currently he has the highest ceiling and trajectory,” Tendler said.
