Federal Donuts is getting ready to go national, and its starting with three new stores in Radnor, Conshohocken and Willow Grove, writes Michael Tanenbaum for Philly Voice.

The opening dates haven’t been announced, but the Radnor store will open at 200 Radnor Chester Road.

After that, the company, now rebranded as Federal Donuts and Chicken, will grow in Pennsylvania, and out into the rest of the country.

Federal Donuts was a passion of culinary partners Michael Solomonov and Steve Cook, who achieved a national reputation for their CookNSolo restaurants.

It was launched in 2011 in the city, with 10 stores and stands, including locations at the Wells Fargo Center and Citizens Bank Park.

The popular store features donuts, fried chicken and coffee.

“I am thrilled to now lead the expansion as CEO and allow Federal Donuts to reach its full potential,” said CEO Jeff Benjamin.

The company got a boost two years ago when it received a growth equity investment from Radnor-based NewSpring Franchise.

New Spring has financed the expansion of other brands, including Duck Donuts.

To date, the store only has one location outside the city, at the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas
