The Circuit Trails is a regional network of more than 411 multi-use trails offering scenic routes for walking, biking, and doing the things you love to do outside.

This Saturday, April 27, is Celebrate Trails Day, an annual spring celebration of America’s trails. Started by Rails to Trails Conservancy in 2013, the celebration encourages people across the country to get outside and enjoy the nation’s exceptional trails and trail systems.

How you choose to participate in Celebrate Trails Day is entirely up to you — walk, run, ride, or roll. The possibilities for fun or finding your next adventure are endless.

The Greater Philadelphia and southern New Jersey region is home to one of America’s largest trail networks, The Circuit Trails. The Circuit Trails is a network of more than 411 multi-use trails weaving through the urban, suburban, and rural areas of nine counties in Pennsylvania and New JerseyBucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Mercer — offering scenic routes for walking, biking, and doing the things you love to do outside, whether relaxing or getting where you want to go. Spending time on local trails demonstrates the value of these spaces to decision-makers, whose support is vital for securing funding to build new trails and maintain existing ones.

The Circuit Trails Coalition is working toward completing 500 miles of Circuit Trails by 2025. With a little more than a year to achieve this goal, the Coalition is rallying support for the network and asking community members to spring into action by sending letters to the elected officials in their county, urging them to prioritize funding and the maintenance and development of the Circuit Trails network.

This call to action will be the focus at more than 15 events across Greater Philadelphia and southern New Jersey scheduled for Celebrate Trails Day. These events provide an opportunity for communities and neighbors to learn more about the regional vision and take steps to accelerate progress.
