U.S. Women’s Soccer Goalie Casey Murphy Gets Married At Classic Themed Wedding in Center City Philadelphia
Casey Murphy, goalie for the United States National Women’s Soccer League, officially tied the knot with fiancé Chris Mirabelli, at a wedding ceremony in Center City Philadelphia, writes Emily Strohm for People.
The ceremony took place at the Crystal Tea Room on South Broad Street on December 15.
The couple decided to go with a classic romantic theme with white, gold, and red throughout the formal decor.
Murphy and Mirabelli first met while they were both students at Rutgers University. They were two of the most successful athletes at the school and both were representing Team USA at the time.
“Chris came up to me at a party on my 21st birthday and challenged me to a penalty kick shootout where if he scored more than four goals I would have to take him out to dinner, and if not, he would have to take me out to dinner,” Murphy recalls.
Mirabelli scored four goals in the playful challenge and took Murphy out to dinner the following day.
When it came time to pop the question, Mirabelli had to scrap his big, lavish plans for a more private, intimate proposal to match Murphy’s preferences.
The wedding, as Murphy described it, was “an epic holiday party filled with close family and friends.”
