New Bilingual Reporter Joins NBC 10, Telemundo 62 Broadcast Team

Yukare Nakayama, a bilingual journalist, is the newest member of the broadcast news team at NBC 10 Philadelphia and Telemundo 62.

Yukare Nakayama recently made her debut as the newest member of the NBC10 and Telemundo62 news team, writes Hadeel Hashem for BNN.

Nakayama is an Emmy-nominated journalist known for her bilingual reporting abilities.

Her hiring is part of the station’s commitment to serving a diverse audience in the Philadelphia area. 

“We are excited to have Yukare join our team in Philadelphia,” said Elizabeth Flores, Vice President of News for NBC10 and Telemundo62, in a statement. “As a bilingual journalist, she will bring a unique perspective to her news reporting that will benefit our viewers in both English and Spanish.”

Prior to coming to Philadelphia, Nakayama honed her skills in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, reporting for CBS58 and Telemundo Wisconsin.

Before that, she worked as a community journalist for ABC7 in Chicago, where she earned a Chicago/Midwest Emmy Award nomination. She was also a general assignment reporter in Rock Island, Illinois.

Nakayama is of Mexican and Japanese descent, originally from the suburbs of Chicago.

Her multicultural background adds another layer to her reporting, making her stories more relatable to the multicultural Philadelphia audience. 

Nakayama earned her bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from American University, where she also minored in Marketing.
