Inside Federal Donuts & Chicken’s Newest and Largest Location in South Philadelphia
Federal Donuts & Chicken recently opened its newest location in South Philadelphia, and it’s the largest to date, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The location in the Whitman neighborhood, on the corner of Wolf and Swanson Streets near Columbus Boulevard, essentially replaces its original location a mile away in Pennsport, which closed in January after over 12 years in operation.
Two years ago, founders Michael Solomonov and Steve Cook announced that they had taken on private equity investment that could grow the brand to 150 stores nationwide. This includes a new franchise location that recently opened in Las Vegas.
The new South Philly location has 24 seats, and also includes an R&D kitchen. From March 7 through March 17, the new location will offer $1 hot coffee with the purchase of a cinnamon brown sugar, strawberry lavender, or cookies and cream doughnut between 7 and 11 AM.
The Wolf Street menu also includes a breakfast sandwich with steamed and fried egg with Cooper Sharp cheese, bacon, cherry pepper relish and a hand-battered chicken tender on a potato roll), a fig mascarpone fancy doughnut, and the complement of chicken.
