CompuData, a Philadelphia-based technology firm was acquired by Cleveland-based accounting and consulting firm, CBIZ, earlier this month, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal

Founded in 1971, ComputaData provides technology consulting to small and midsize organizations. It specializes in cloud hosting, managed information technology, and security.

According to Business Journal data, last year CompuData was the 10th largest woman-owned business in the region and the 16th largest technology employer, with 60.

“We’ve had tremendous growth over the past five years or so and were really looking for a partner to help us scale to the next level,” said CompuData Chief Operating Officer, Ed Guarrieri.

He noted that CompuData was attracted to the national platform that CBIZ could provide, and offered a variety of cross-selling opportunities for both sides.

CompuData has virtually doubled in size over the past seven years, driven primarily by cloud architecture and security software.

Jerry Grisko, CEO of CBIZ said in a statement that the firm is experiencing “an increasingly high demand across the country for precisely the suite of services that CompuData has built an impressive reputation providing.”

CBIZ also has three other Philadelphia offices, all in Center City
