Markets play a pivotal role in the community, whether to look for a special ingredient, fresh food from local purveyors, or to eat culturally relevant foods from all across the world.

Philadelphia Magazine has compiled a list of the best markets in the region, and three are located in Philadelphia, as selected by FooBooz.

First, there’s the Southeast Asian Market at FDR Park in South Philadelphia.

Each weekend between the spring and fall, Southeast Asian cuisine dishes are served as a representation of Philadelphia’s immigrant and refugee communities.

There’s also Riverwards Produce Market with its two locations — one in Fishtown and another in Old City.

This market features a wide array of specialty goods, from monstera fruit to Périgord black truffle, and more.

Perhaps the most well-known in the city is Reading Terminal Market in Center City.

A long-time tourist destination, Reading Terminal Market is a prime spot for those on the hunt for sushi-grade tuna, gourmet sweets, and anything in between.
