Thunderbird Salvage opened its first store in 2017, and now its second storefront will be permanent and open on weekends.

Since it opened in Kensington in 2017, Thunderbird Salvage has been a go-to destination for locals looking for affordable, second-hand items and now its second location will be accessible for longer than anticipated, writes John Paul Titlow for PhillyVoice.

After operating an additional storefront on Frankford Avenue as a holiday-themed pop-up toward the end of 2023, its owners announced that the second location would become permanent.

The first location is housed inside the historic former Frankford Avenue Baptist Church.

The vintage-leaning thrift store features a wide selection of pre-owned housewares, furniture, clothing, books, vinyls, and several other items that can likely be found in one’s home.

Thunderbird Salvage’s second storefront is just blocks away from the first location.

In contrast to the first location, however, the second will only be open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It will instead function as more of an outlet for discounted, bulk goods and surplus used and vintage wares that Thunderbird’s owners find.

The second location will also be used as a cultural and community space that will host events like flea markets and bingo nights.
