SEPTA Shuttering Ticket Windows at 14 Regional Rail Stations Due to Low Sales

By

Because of a decreasing demand for in-person sales, SEPTA is closing in-person ticket sales windows at 14 Regional Rail stations, writes Thomas Fitzgerald for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Each of the offices has been processing less than 20 sales transactions per week, according to SEPTA spokesperson Andrew Busch.

While the ticket agents there will be losing their jobs, Edens Corp., the company that staffs the offices, has offered them reassignment to other parts of the company.

Most Regional Rail riders use Key cards, and monthly passes or buy a Quick Trip ticket from conductors on board.

The 14 stations affected are St. Martins, Oreland, Clifton, North Hills, Rosyln, Chelten, Chestnut Hill East, Mount Airy, Cheltenham, East Falls, Carpenter, Melrose Park, Wallingford, and Morton.

The last day for in-person ticket sales at these stations will be February 2.
