Good Samaritan Goes the Distance to Return Radnor Man’s Wallet

By

A Radnor Township man who left his wallet on the train on New Year’s Eve is extremely grateful to SEPTA conductor Richard Murray-Dey, who went the extra mile to get the wallet back to him.

Greg Basile of Radnor personally thanked Richard Murray-Dey in a special meet up Jan. 17 at the Ardmore train station where Basie first left his wallet behind, writes Dawn Timmeney for Fox 29,

Murray-Dey, who was also celebrating his birthday that day, was finishing work that night when he found the wallet.

The conductor wanted to make sure the wallet was returned right away so he drove 55 miles from Doylestown to Basile’s house, leaving a message anonymously on a Ring doorbell camera that he was returning the wallet.

“What he had in there, I knew he would really need it and I wasn’t looking for anything in return,” Murray-Dey explained.

“What he did was pretty spectacular,” Basile said.

Basile was so touched by Murray-Dey’s kindness that he reached out to FOX 29, which first reported the story, to see if anyone could identify the man on the Ring camera.

Calls and emails poured in, identifying the man as Murray-Day.
