Another wave of storms has hit the Chester County area, reminding owners Anthony and Katie Young of when Hurricane Ida left irreparable damage to Hank’s Place’s original location, write Josh Sanders and Brad Nau for CBS News Philadelphia.

While they have made their current home at a restaurant in Kennett Square, the Youngs have vowed to rebuild back in Chadds Ford. The recent set of storms this past Tuesday caused them to lose power and close for an amount of time, bringing back horrible memories of when they lost everything in 2021.

“We knew that we pretty much lost everything,” Katie Young said. “We cried a lot. There were a lot of emotions. A lot of anger.”

This time, the Youngs know that the community, more specifically their loyal customers, have their backs as they continue with the restaurant’s legacy that has been alive since it opened in 1950.

The Youngs themselves met as children while going to the restaurant. They said they have been aware of marriages, grandchildren, and the passing of loved ones through these doors. Everyone is very tightly knit.

“We made it through the hardest part. This too shall pass, and this water will recede,” she said.
