On-time flights are a blessing for eager travelers who want to get to their destinations as soon as possible.
Nationwide, some airports have a greater reputation than others for being on time, writes Jessica Puckett for Conde Nast Traveler.
For those who frequent airports, Cirium, an air travel data firm, provides an annual list of the 20 most on-time airports in the world.
For 2023, U.S. airports took 13 of the 20 spots for the lowest rates of flight delays, with Philadelphia International Airport cracking the top 10 and coming in at No. 8 in the world for on-time flights.
82.75 percent of its flights left on time.
All 20 airports kept delays low despite challenges like a nationwide shortage of air traffic controllers and FAA funding issues.
Individual airlines improved on-time performances last year, especially compared to 2022, when they saw a spike in travel in the post-pandemic year.
“It is clear that airlines’ performance is attached to airport results and vice versa,” wrote Luis Felipe de Oliveria, world director general of the Airports Council International.
A record-breaking number of travelers are expected to be flying in 2024, he wrote in the report.
