Mediterranean-Inspired Fishtown Restaurant, Bastia, Named to Bon Appétit’s ‘New Restaurants To Try This Winter’ List
Each year, a slate of new restaurants open in cities across the U.S., enriching their respective culinary scene.
Bon Appétit has compiled a list of eight most anticipated restaurant openings of the winter, writes Kate Kassin for the publication.
A Philadelphia restaurant has made the list: Bastia.
Scheduled to open in March in Fishtown, Bastia is a Mediterranean-inspired cafe by day and a full-service restaurant by night.
This marks chef Tyler Akin’s return to the neighborhood.
At Bastia, Akin will be cooking seafood- and vegetable-heavy dishes such as amerjack crudo with whipped cannellini, finger lime, and clementine, veal tail with olives and vin de Corse, and ratatouille with Calabrian chile and grilled sourdough.
The beverage menu has an emphasis on low-intervention wines from the Mediterranean coastal region, spritzes, and aperitifs.
Overall, there will be coffee and breakfast, lunch, and weekend brunch service for hotel guests and Fishtown residents, as well.
Bastia will be opening in the newly converted boutique hotel Anna & Bel, a historic property which dates back to the late 18th century.
