Drexel University is launching a new scholarship program with the new $15 million gift it recently received from the Howley Foundation.

Drexel University recently announced that it has created four new endowed positions thanks to $8.5 million worth of donations, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal

The endowed positions will be in three different colleges in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cell and gene therapy, and civil engineering.

The largest of the four donations to the endowed positions is a $3 million gift from Urban Outfitters CEO Dick Hayne

With the donation comes the establishment of the URBN Endowed Professor of Biomedical Innovation and creation of the URBN Biomedical Innovation Research Fund

Hayne’s gift is meant to help Drexel advance its research in cell and gene therapy.

Drexel President John Fry’s gift will help establish the university curator position in the Office of University Collections and Exhibitions

A $2 million endowment will support the university curator position, which will be called the Cara Keegan Fry University Curator.

Another endowed position supported by a $2.5 million gift will go toward a professor in the College of Computing and Informatics, intended to advance Drexel in areas like computing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
