Former Eagle Chris Long Shows Commitment to Educational Equity in Philly
Chris Long, and his nonprofit, The Chris Long Foundation, has partnered with Yards Brewing Company and Chickie’s & Pete’s on a new initiative to support educational equity in Philadelphia.
Long launched the nonprofit in 2018, and its mission is to support communities in accessing clean water and addressing basic needs for youth and families both locally and globally.
A particular endeavor is especially near and dear to the Philadelphia Eagles defensive end’s heart — addressing educational equity.
That was the catalyst for launching the Chris Long Foundation’s EdZone initiative.
The partnership with Yards and Chickie’s & Pete’s helps bring the initiative into Philadelphia.
For Long, attacking the educational equity issue means providing young people with essential needs.
“What we aim to do is give kids the basic dignity that they need to walk into a classroom and not feel intimidated, to not walk into a classroom with holes in their shoes, to not have to go to school without a coat in the winter, to not have hygiene products … these are things that can sink a kid and get a kid bullied and hurt their self-esteem,” Long said.
In celebration of the new local partnership, Yards has introduced Game Day Standard, a re-branded beer that will be available exclusively at Chickie’s & Pete’s.
A portion of all sales of the beer will go directly toward supporting the EdZone initiative.
