Temple Health is always searching for ways to meet patients where they are and the opening of a new hub aligns with that mission, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal. 

A new ‘Healthy Together Hub’ was recently opened inside a North Philadelphia ShopRite.

The hub will provide free health screenings and health education in the convenience of a retail space.

The screenings and education programs will focus on cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, behavioral health, and social determinants of health.

Steve Carson, Temple Health’s senior vice president for population health, said the idea to create a fixed space to serve as a hub came after the health system received a $2 million grant.

About $700,000 is allocated for the new hub.

Carson highlights that the goal is to do more than just conduct health screenings, but also to connect patients to primary care doctors and help people with all different types of chronic conditions. 

“We will have different rotating people through here on a daily basis to answer questions and help meet the health needs of the community,” he said. 

The health system is currently in the process of recruiting a nurse who will be at the Hub permanently.
