David Portnoy of Barstool Sports Reviews Russo’s Pizza in New Hope: A Slice of Small-Town Charm
Barstool Sports and One Bite Pizza founder David “El Presidente” Portnoy reviewed Russo’s Pizza in New Hope, making it the third Bucks County pizzeria he recently tried out and gave his verdict on, writes Damon C. Williams for the Bucks County Courier Times.
Portnoy visited the pizza place last week and was impressed both with the small-town vibe of New Hope and his slice of Russo’s super-sized pie.
“The town is beautiful,” said Portnoy. “It’s like every little kid is coming down Main Street, and they’ve got the stores, and it feels like Thanksgiving. It’s very New England-y, with cool vibes. You come here and for $40 or $50, you can feed the whole family, no problem.”
The famous reviewer then talked to the owner of Russo’s Pizza before trying a slice of its signature 30-inch tomato pie.
“This pizza is gigantic,” said Portnoy. And while its size is causing it to do a flop when picked up, “it’s good. The sauce is good, the bread is good, the crust is good, and the town is phenomenal. I’m going to go 7.5.”
