Jacqueline Bailey-Davis, a Philadelphia police staff inspector, will be Norristown’s new police chief, writes Rachel Ravina for The Reporter.

Bailey-Davis is Norristown’s first female police chief. She will lead a department of 55 patrol officers, seven detectives, data analysis section, and a command staff.

“Dr. Bailey-Davis will bring a vast career of community service and academic mastery as Norristown police chief,” said Norristown Municipal Council President Tom Lepera.

“Council believes Bailey-Davis will be a proactive law enforcement leader who will ensure the safety of our residents and our sworn officers and continue the path of building strong relationships between the two.”

Bailey-Davis is Philly-born and joined the Philadelphia Police Department in 1997. She has degrees from the University of Cincinnati, Lincoln University, and a doctorate in public administration from West Chester University.

She is also a part-time adjunct professor at Alvernia University and the Community College of Philadelphia.

Municipal Administrator Crandall Jones said Bailey-Jones will make a real difference in Norristown.

“She is very accessible and somebody who is…really caring about policing, and caring about communities,” Jones said. “I think that the community will embrace her…”

Bailey-Davis will officially be appointed at the next Norristown Municipal Council work session on December 19.
