Philadelphia Teacher Jennifer Basile Launched “Blessed in Distress Apparel,” Fashion Line Inspired By Her Love of Philly Sports
Jennifer Basile is a full-time teacher and mother, but still manages to find the time to make serious use of her love of Philadelphia sports through her entrepreneurial endeavor, reports Aunyea Lachelle for NBC 10 Philadelphia.
Basile is the founder of “Blessed in Distress,” a sports-themed apparel company launched during the pandemic.
Through the company, Basile creates sweatshirts, T-shirts, hoodies, and varsity jackets with the goal of placing a fashionable twist on Philly sports paraphernalia.
While her football apparel has been the most popular, she covers all four of the major Philly sports teams — Eagles, Sixers, Phillies, and Flyers.
“We all know that Philadelphia sports fans are the most passionate ones out there, so I love feeling like I’m a big part of that and I think the most fulfilling part is seeing people out wearing my gear,” said Basile.
Each season, Basile comes up with a different theme for the apparel she makes.
The most recent puts an emphasis on the distressed lettering and spray-dye design style.
The apparel, which includes unisex and children’s clothing, is all handmade out of Basile’s basement.
“It’s really cool to feel like I’m creating something that’s like a conversation starter,” said Basile.
