Budd Bioworks is aiming to set itself apart as the biggest life sciences campus in the region.

In 2019, Plymouth Group acquired The Budd Company property with plans to transform it into a life sciences campus, and now it’s in its early phase, writes Paul Schwedelson for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Talks are currently taking place to bring in tenants, which is key to the real estate developer’s wait-and-see approach to building out the space.

Joseph Fetterman of Colliers, who is handling leasing for the project, noted that lease negotiations are underway with six undisclosed potential tenants.

Plymouth Group’s primary focus is on marketing the space for the new Budd Bioworks campus to large-scale tenants and Big Pharma companies.

With other life sciences campuses being developed in the region, the belief is that this one will set itself apart from the rest.

“There is no space coming online that looks like this space,” said Fetterman.

A big reason for that is its capacity for manufacturing, with 2.5 million square feet of space.

With that amount of space, Fetterman said it’s possible for that company to operate its labs and production at the same site.

“This is not conventional lab or office space. It really enables a really creative and exciting workplace,” he said.
