When looking for schools for K-12 students, the Philadelphia region is not short of quality options, according to Niche.  

Whether it’s in the city or the surrounding suburbs, there are at least a handful of schools within an area that could be to your liking. 

Niche recently released a list of the top schools in 2024, comparing schools in Philadelphia, the outside suburbs, and other parts of the tri-state area. 

Atop the list is Germantown Friends School, located in Germantown. It was selected as the No. 1 best private high school in the city.

The second-best private school in Philadelphia is Friends Select School, located in the heart of Center City Philadelphia, ranking as the No. 8 best private school overall.

Third on the list is Julia R. Masterman Laboratory and Demonstration, in the Spring Garden neighborhood. It also doubled as the No. 1 best public school in the Philadelphia area.

Rounding out the top 5 are William Penn Charter School and Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, which rank as the No. 16 and No. 24 private schools in the city, respectively. These schools are located in the East Falls and Chestnut Hill areas, respectively.
